SUGAR'S YUM, BUT...
Yes, we’ve heard it all before. Sugar is bad for you. But let’s take that statement a bit further: for many people, sugar is a killer.
Do you sweeten your daily chia intake with sugar? You could be wiping out the positive benefits of chia if you sweeten it with either table sugar and/or artificial sweeteners.
At ChiaLive, we feel the need to promote not only the exceptional chia product, but other foods as well that you can combine with chia to optimise your health.

Xylitol (Zy-li-tol) is a white crystalline powder produced from fibrous vegetable and fruits and trees such as birch and corn cobs. It was first produced from the bark of the birch tree as a viable alternative food sweetener in Finland after World War II, when Europe was suffering from an acute sugar shortage. Shortly after its production, Finnish researchers discovered its two-part remarkable nature:
(1) It metabolises without using insulin, and
(2) It has amazing anti-bacterial properties and will not damage teeth.
By the 1960s, with Finland, Germany, Switzerland, the Soviet Union, and Japan leading the way, xylitol was being used in diabetic diets and as an energy source for infusion therapy in patients with impaired glucose resistance.
It entered the Australian food market only a few years ago. But it is fast showing up in many homes as a real replacement for sugar and artificial sweeteners.
How Safe Is Xylitol?
Xylitol is currently approved in over 50 countries worldwide. It has no known toxic levels. However, as with other
polyols (sugar alcohol), it has a laxative effect when taken in large quantities.
Xylitol has been evaluated and approved by:
US Food and Drug Administration
Food Standards Australia & New Zealand
Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO)
World Health Organisation (WHO)
Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA)
EU Scientific Committee for Food
